Party Pictures from our grand rooftop opening yesterday!

About the Artist - Marion Rickenbacker

Marion Rickenbacker has had a lifelong interest in photography, and is now bringing her work to public view for the first time, through participation in the Second Life art scene, with works showing in the Rickenbacker Photo Gallery and a showroom in the Cetus District.

Marion aims to produce pictures that transcend representation, conveying the latent emotion in our perception of things, and exploring the human capacity to find meaning in the natural world. The exhibition “Faded Flowers” is a set of digital close-ups of garden flowers (roses, peonies and poppies), taken over a period of a few days as the blooms fade and die, changing colour, texture and shape and displaying unexpected riches.

Marion’s pictures can also be seen on Flickr

About the Artists: Bing & Binder

The artists whyzzer Bing and Olaf Binder, who hail from Germany, are eclectic creators of functional art for the virtual environment. Their pieces, with clean and spare lines, are the essence of modern. At the same time, one can see a hint of more traditional erotic imagery much like that of traditional images in Edo, Japan. Bing & Binder have created complex effects with their work--both erotic and functional, simple yet chic. They have brought an atmosphere of fun and sensuality to their work and gallery that is transmitted through their pieces to the user/viewer.

About the artist: Josina Burgess

José den Burger (aka Josina Burgess) studied at the Famous Artists Schools of America and graduated in illustration, advertisement, free painting and drawing. She studied under Ben Stahl, Al Parker, Jon Witcomb, Fred Ludekens, Peter Helck, got her papers in 1967 and then decided to become a ...........singer!

As a singer she worked successfully in the Netherlands especially in the 70ties. She made album records, was a member of the Knokke Songfestival Team and had her own radio and personality show on the Dutch Television. She worked with the well known Ted de Braak in all Dutch Theaters and was a guest in many radio and television shows. She traveled around the world and performed in the Intercontinental Hotels, on cruiseships and in many international television shows. In Spain she was appearing for 4 years on Spanish television and in the years after that she became the leading lady of the well known close-harmony trio The New Shepherds and after that of Close Encounter were she was leader of her own 7 mans band. made several albums and apperad on dutch radio and television.

During all these years of traveling she continued painting and drawing and was inspired by the countries she visited. The work has many facets, just like a human has many sides in his or her personality. Feelings and impressions, sometimes subtile, but also powerful and above all the use of bright colors are specific for her art. Non-figurative, abstract as well as figurative paintings, explosions of color, memories and feelings are telling their story. José uses mixed techniques and acryl in a very personal style, flowers and landscapes, recognizable or with free expression. The composition, technique, the colors and the shape are giving an extra dimension to her paintings. They have to be "beautiful" not boring and always a pleasure to look at.
